Rolled Gold or Gold Filled Jewelry
Gold Filled Jewelry
has a SOLID layer of 14K gold and
is considered lifetime jewelry!
14/20 Rolled
Gold wire creates high fashion jewelry
at a fraction of the cost and
is extremely
appealing because there has always been
a love affair and a fascination with
gold. There is 100 times more gold in 14 kt. Rolled Gold (gold filled) than
in gold plate. A 14/20 Rolled Gold pendant is usually
considered a lifetime piece of jewelry. 14/20 Rolled Gold is usually used for
pendants, pins, earrings, collars,
bracelets, small rings. I purchase rolls of 14/20 wire for my handmade jewelry.
When shopping for gold-filled wire
jewelry , ask for and get the 14/20
gold-filled rather than the 12/20.
I know 12/20 may be a dollar or so less
expensive , but the 14/20 is much more
durable and long lasting.
( note: I only
use 14/20)
You should not mistake
Rolled Gold for cheap GOLD PLATING.
In my opinion, gold plated jewelry is junk.
There is a very big difference between the
two. Gold fill has 100 times the amount of
gold as gold plate. The end result is
a solid 14kt. tube , usually with a sterling
silver "core" which is strong, durable, and
resistant to tarnish because of its thick,
solid 14 kt. gold covering.
Jjewelry makers sometimes use
the very inferior gold plated wire to keep
the costs down, but be mindful that plated
jewelry is considered "costume jewelry", as
the finish is not long lasting. You can
damage it simply by cleaning it!
Gold
Fill, or Rolled Gold, is fine jewelry
material, and will last a lifetime.
I use it because a lot more
people that can afford a $50 gold filled
pair of earrings, than can afford a
$400.00 solid gold pair.
I wanted to create lifetime quality jewelry
you would be proud to wear, yet keep it
affordable so that everyone could experience
the pleasure of owning a unique, custom made
piece of jewelry.
Blessings,
Shirley Gordon
