One of the reasons I created Sobriety Stones was to make anniversary jewelry for people in recovery that didn't have a symbol on it that would prevent them from wearing it freely to work or church.

The traditional symbols of recovery are so well known now, with TV and the Internet, that many people, especially Old Timers and people in business have gotten away from wearing it in public, (in keeping with the Anonymous principal).

So I do not often use the traditional symbols, triangles or squares of
 "official" AA , NA, or Ala non Jewelry.

The Spelling of "Al A NON"

(Al-Anon is a trademarked name, used to refer to the program for family and friends of alcoholics. I was contacted by Al-Anon headquarters and told that SobrietyStones was coming up as the first site in the search for Al A NON and that people who were looking for help from Al-Anon were ending up at my site. Would I respectfully not use the formal spelling of Al-Anon so that the people who needed help would find the right resources.

I changed the way it was spelled so that people looking for jewelry for Alanon would still know which stones to pick for themselves, without violating my agreement with Al-Anon headquarters, or interfering with people who were looking for the Al-Anon group.)
